Guild Tacoma Branch spotlights one employee every month to talk about their position, passions, and hobbies. This month’s spotlight employee is Amber Marlowe.
Amber Marlowe – Guild Mortgage Tacoma Team Spotlight
Interviewer: What is your position?
Amber Marlowe: I am a loan processor (informally known as a LP1) on the Fornerette Team. I take all the leads, collect documentation, and set up files for pre-approval. Simply, I handle the front end of the loan process.
I: What do you have to say about working on the Fornerette Team?
AM: I love our team! Michael does a great job in encouraging and building the members of the team. He’s good at recognizing when we’ve had a stressful month and would benefit from a fun team outing. We’ve done mini golf, cabin days, and a bunch of other fun events with the team. He always strives to keep team morale high!
I: Could you elaborate on the leadership training Michael provides?
AM: Sure! So Michael participates in the CORE training and actually took our team to Dallas last August to do training on each of our roles. A different lender, who is also a part of the CORE training, comes into our office once a week to go over our points of strain in our files and answer any questions, and then discusses how we can get through the conflicts and simplify our processes. With Michael’s strong focus in training and development, it’s easy for everyone on the team to work well with each other and push each other to reach goals.
I: What goals do you have in 3-5 year?
AM: My biggest goal is to perfect the position I’m in right now. I’ve been in the role a little over a year and I transitioned from a real estate agent before working at Guild. So I have a solid understanding of the housing world and what it takes to buy a home. My biggest challenge is that I feel like there aren’t enough hours in the day to meet every single person’s expectations with the answers they want to hear. Every file is different so they all require a different solution, and that takes time and creative thinking.
I: What do you like to do outside of work?
AM: I have a 9 year old and 11 year old so a lot of my time is spent at their sports activities! I’m looking forward to our annual camping trip this summer. My family rents out a bunch of camping sites every summer at Blue Lake and we relax with no cell service for a week. It’s a fun tradition that I’ve been a part of since I was 13 years old!
