Guild Employee Spotlight – Rick Slaughter

Interviewer: What is your position?

Rick Slaughter: I am a loan officer here at Guild Mortgage Tacoma. I work on a team of three comprised of myself, my processing assistant, and my processor. The biggest part of my role is meeting with potential clients, collecting their information and then organizing their documentation so it can be submitted. Then my processor takes over.

I: What’s your favorite part of your job?

RS: The best part of my job is helping solve problems that my client’s don’t always know are present. I pride myself in simplifying the home loan processes and procedures so my clients are comfortable every step of the way. I also work alongside a set group of realtors, and since we all have each other’s backs and want to help each other succeed, every home loan is fun!

I: You mentioned you work with a set group of realtors, what advantages does that bring for yourselves and the client?

RS: Working with a close tight knit group of realtors ensures that we all wish success upon each other and therefore always put our best foot forward in helping one another. These realtors are also people I consider close friends who come together on the weekends to hangout once and a while. The advantage to the client is that the response time is immediate as we all feel comfortable reaching out to each other 24/7. It also helps in making the whole home buying process seamless since we have the process down to an art.

I: What appealed to you about working at Guild Mortgage?

RS: Guild is a top notch company. In their products, in their customer service, and in their employee coaching programs. Anytime you look at the top lenders in the United States, Guild is always in the top 5. Additionally, Guild prioritizes continual coaching and learning for its employees. Every single day that I’ve worked here for the last month and a half, I have had at least one person come over to my office to ask if there is anything I need help with. Guild has fostered a teamwork environment in its local offices and as a business as a whole. Who wouldn’t want to work for a high performing company who treat their employees well?

I: What are some things you like to do on the weekends?

RS: I love to spend time outside with my family. We are always looking for the next adventure where we get to spend quality time opting outside with our camper. My wife and I also run a nonprofit youth development program in Orting. Serving others is one of my biggest passions in life.
