The museum offers attractions both indoor and outdoor and even has a café where you can sit and eat with your family after a day of exploring at the museum. Washington State Capitol

This government legislative building is one of the top things for military families to do in Olympia, Washington. It sits on 12 acres & offers free guided tours daily. If you and your family enjoy historic buildings, the Washington State Capitol is a must see. In the spring, the daffodils and tulips are in bloom and really add some beautiful color to the site. There are also plenty of benches if you wish to bring a lunch and have a picnic.

Percival Landing Park

Percival Landing Park is a Bayfront public space with a boardwalk, playground, and picnic areas with access to nearby restaurants. It is one of Olympia’s three waterfront parks and is located at the southern-most tip of the Puget Sound. For a great view of the sound in a clean and well maintained outdoor area, consider taking your family to spend the day at Percival Landing Park.

Yashiro Japanese Garden

The Yashiro Japanese Garden was created to symbolize the relationship between Olympia and it’s sister city of Yashiro, Japan. It features traditionally manicured greenery, a koi pond, and many exotic plants & sculptures. The paths are lined with flowers creating colorful symmetry within the park. It is considered a beautiful oasis in the midst of the bustling city of Olympia, and often times you’ll find that you have the park all to yourself. If you want somewhere to meditate, consider visiting the Yashiro Japanese garden for a small slice of peace.
